Energy Law

Energy resources - an exhausting topic?

The term energy resource generally means the different ways we create energy to obtain electricity. There are many different kinds of energy resources, some being renewable, and others being non-renewable. Renewable energy resources are energy forms that can be re-used and recycled, as opposed to non-renewable energy resources, which are resources that cannot be used again once they are burnt.

Energy resources and the law

Energy resources are vital to any country. Without energy resources in place and energy resources planned for the future a company would not be able to develop and when the energy resources run out they would inevitably struggle to continue. Energy resources are used for the majority of day to day activities, there would not be many business activities that would be able to continue without relevant energy resources in place.

Fuelling legal debate over energy law

Energy law is a hot topic in the contemporary world. The planet’s resources are quickly decreasing and oil prices are rising as a result. New legislation concerning energy law is an area of the legal system that is more relevant and entwined with global economics than ever before. Energy law covers a range of topics, including nuclear power, oil, gas, pipelines, refineries and renewable energy.

"I'll be back" - the facts about renewable energy

Renewable energy is the term given to energy sources that are natural, such as tides, rain, wind and sunlight. It was not until recent decades that the phenomenon of global warning hit home and now the quest to harness the natural powers found within our atmosphere is more prevalent than ever and renewable energy seems to be the answer on most scientists' tongues.

Nuclear power, energy regulations and the legal fallout

In today’s environment nuclear power energy is becoming a much more viable option as many of our older resources such as coal and oil become increasingly rare. Indeed, due to some dramatic advances in nuclear technology, this form of power is now considered to make up a vital part of our world’s energy resources.

Renewable and non-renewable energy - the great debate

Renewable energy refers to the type of energy that can be re-used, replaced and recycled when they are used, whereas non-renewable energy resources cannot be re-used, replaced or recycled. There is particular interest with regard to new forms of renewable energy, as our energy sources are dwindling, we must seek other forms of fuels to feed our cars and fires.

Renewable and non-renewable energy sources

Renewable and non-renewable resources of Energy are used for the majority of day to activities that an individual will find themselves doing. When saying this, I am not referring to the physical energy exerted by an individual person. Only a fool would think that. I am referring to the use of renewable and non-renewable resources of energy such as electrical energy, water energy, fuel energy.

Solicitors of pure energy

Due to the dramatic increase in environmental concerns in recent years, solicitors who specialise in environmental and energy laws are becoming ever more in demand. Solicitors who work in this field will be expected to have a great deal of legal knowledge and expertise regarding all relevant environmental and energy related laws. The various different businesses and organisations which work in the energy sector are now expected to adhere to strict energy laws and regulations which have been put in place in order to address environmental concerns.

The Climate Change Act and you

Over the past few years several pieces of important energy law legislation have been introduced in order to address the growing problem of climate change. The Climate Change Act 2006 and The Climate Change Act 2008 have both been created in recent times in order introduce realistic targets for dramatically reducing UK carbon emissions in the future.

The glowing future of energy law

Energy law governs a relatively new set of rules and regulations which have been put in place in order to govern the use of a variety of different renewable and non renewable energy sources. Due to the increasing limitations that exist in terms of the earth’s resources, energy laws have been put in place in order to ensure that these valuable resources are used as economically as possible.

The laws and regulations which protect our water

Energy law has seen an increase in water regulations over the years for which there are many reasons. The development of a natural renewable source of energy through hydropower, which is energy produced through the use of water, has led to the requirement for stricter water regulations.

The pros and cons of nuclear power plants

A nuclear power plant is a thermal power station whereby the heat source used is created by one or more nuclear reactors. Nuclear power plants are used as a form of energy source production and although the power plants are unsightly, they are vital to have in society for this continued production of energy.

The virtues of renewable energy

Renewable energy is a form of energy which comes from natural resources that can be replenished and thus renewed. Unlike the current forms of energy which are not renewable and will some day run out, the global interest is now on renewable energy sources looking to provide ways of ensuring energy can continue to be replenished when the current forms of energy inevitably run out.

Up and atom - the laws on nuclear power plants

Nuclear power plants are complex buildings where the process of nuclear fission occurs and the energy produced goes through an engineered system designed to control the production of energy and distribute it to the surrounding region. There is controversy in the law surrounding the effectiveness of the nuclear power plant; the possibility of its long-term effects being damaging to life on the planet and to the environment.

Water regulations - preventing a flood of complaints

The regulation of water is important because if the scientists who predict climate change are right, our resources will dry up and water will be in high demand. There will be a need for strict water regulations to be set in place to ensure that water is available to as many people as possible.
