The Court of Protection has the power to appoint people as deputies to make decisions on behalf of someone who lacks mental capacity (called a protected person) and who has not appointed his own representatives by making an Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney.
Whenever someone applies to be appointed as a deputy, they will need to provide additional information to support their application using this form.
The Court of Protection can grant two types of Deputyship orders. Property and affairs orders allow the Deputy to make decisions which affect the protected person’s finances, and personal welfare orders allow the deputy to make decisions which affect the protected persons wellbeing, such as medical decisions. This Document should be used to provide supporting information where you are making a property and affairs application, and should be submitted to the court along with the application form.
