COP24 Witness Statement
In order to reduce the expense and delay involved in legal proceedings, the Court will often take evidence in the form of a written witness statement, rather than by requiring the witness to turn up at court. In order to be admissible as evidence, every witness statement will contain a statement of truth which the person making it must sign. Anyone who falsely signs a statement of truth commits the offence of contempt of Court and could be fined.
This form provides a template which should be used as a basis for witness statements in the Court of Protection.
