N117 General Form of Undertaking
During the course of legal proceedings, the Court may require any of the parties to make an undertaking. This is a formal promise to the court and if it is broke, the guilty party commits an offence of Contempt of Court and may be fined or imprisoned.
For example, the Court may require that any of the parties agrees to certain conditions before it allows the case to move forward, or it may ask a party who has misbehaved or failed to co-operate with the Court to refrain from continuing in the nuisance activity, or to undertake some specific course of action.
This document can be used as a template for giving a formal undertaking to the Court.
