N56 Form for replying to an attachment of earnings application statement of means

An attachment of earnings order is a court order which a successful Claimant can apply for in order to assist him in enforcing his judgement. It instructs the Defendant’s employer to make deductions from his wages at source and to pay these directly to the Claimant to reduce the outstanding balance on the judgment debt.

The Court will decide the size of the deductions which should be made, and in coming to this decision, it will have regard to the Defendant’s income and outgoings, his level of debt, and any dependents he has. The Defendant should use this form to provide the court with an overview of his finances so that it can decide on deductions which are fair and affordable.
