DAS boosts legal services delivery with Everything Legal acquisition

28 November 2011

by Luke Thomas

Everything Legal Limited, the company which owns and operates the award-winning legal information website Law on the Web, has been acquired by the DAS UK Group, the UK’s leading legal expenses insurer.

Law on the Web attracts more than a million visitors each year, who come seeking legal guidance and advice. The site offers a wide variety of helpful resources for dealing with any legal issue, including do-it-yourself legal documents, an encyclopaedia of UK laws and legislation, and a Find a Solicitor service designed to put people in touch with the right legal practitioner for their needs.Brad Askew and Kathryn Mortimer

The acquisition also brings a portfolio of more than a hundred niche legal websites into the DAS Group taking total, annual visitor numbers over 2.5 million.

“With Law on the Web, we’ve worked to create a comprehensive, one-stop resource that offers unprecedented ease of access for anyone who needs help with the law,” said Brad Askew, Managing Director of Everything Legal. “By joining the DAS UK Group, with their experience, knowledge and connections within the legal world, we’ve come one step closer to reaching our goal.”

DAS UK Group’s CEO, Paul Asplin, commented that the acquisition would “enable DAS to take a giant leap forward in delivering legal services online”.

“DAS has been delivering legal content online for more than 10 years,” Asplin stated, “but this acquisition will massively extend our capabilities and reach, in developing new services and new markets.”

“The combination of the strength, resources and legal expertise of DAS with the unique skills and online presence that Everything Legal has successfully developed, will put us at the forefront of the rapidly developing market for legal services.”

Future plans for Law on the Web include an expansion of the range of services on offer, with a student resource centre, a browsable directory of solicitors and a ‘Legal Who Is’ section listing the details of the major players in the law world.
