Arm Injury Compensation
Claiming for damage to the ankle or Achilles
Injury to the arm can be highly problematic; the use of arms for everyday tasks as well as in work is almost universal. Injury that occurs as part of an accident in which you were not to blame, or medical negligence, could be eligible for a compensation payout.
Arm classification
Anatomically speaking the arm refers only to the portion of limb between the shoulder and the elbow, however, general usage also includes the forearm, which extends from the elbow to the wrist. Ligament and tendon damage, fractures and soft tissue damage are all the kind of injury sustained to your arm that you may be able to claim for.
Compensation claims
You should find a solicitor if you have been the victim of an arm injury and consider that someone else was to blame for your misfortune. Your solicitor will be able to analyse your case and advise you on whether you are in a position to launch a legal compensation claim.
There are two different types of compensation for arm injury claims. One is grounded in the medical reports on your injury and seeks to give you damages for physical suffering. The other is considered only if you have incurred fiscal detriment because of your injury. Loss of income that may arise from an arm injury and medical costs that could have accumulated should be recompensed.
Compensation amounts could consist of the following:
- minor injury – maximum of £4200 – muscle damage, and fractures that heal rapidly and leave behind no complications
- fracture with future problems - £4200 to 12300 – lengthy recovery periods and other complications that may arise from the fracture
- injury with disability – £12300 to £2500 – an injury that heals, but not quite to the level of ability that it used to have
- serious arm injury - £82000 - any type of serious injury, for example multiple broken bones that heal incorrectly, that does not return to its past self may be a disabling influence on you
- amputation - £62000 to £192000 – if your injury is so severe, or if you have an accident, which ends in your arm being shorn clean from your torso, then you have scaled the upper reaches of arm injury compensation possibilities. As an imperfect replacement for your arm you could claim a sum between these two indicators.
