Compensation for Rehabilitation for Spinal/Head Injuries

Claiming for damage to the spine

What may not be at the forefront of the mind of the victim of severe spinal and/or head injuries is the cost that can be involved in rehabilitation: a necessary part of coping with life after such life-changing injuries. Whilst there are the obvious physical impairments to be dealt with, psychological factors can also become an issue. Both will need treatment.

Spinal and head injuries classification

It is impossible to say what treatment you might require in the aftermath of suffering spinal and/or head injuries, as it will depend solely on what injuries you have sustained. It may be that your injuries are not serious enough to require further treatment — for that you should be thankful, however if they do, it can end by being very expensive. How expensive? Not even a solicitor will be able to tell you. You must be advised by a rehabilitation expert, who will tell you what treatment you shall need and possibly put a figure on that treatment.

Rehabilitation compensation claims

If you suffered your injuries because of an accident, you may be able to claim compensation for the rehabilitation costs. As with all claims for compensation, it is advisable that you should engage a solicitor to aid you. In the case of rehabilitation for spinal and/or head injuries, though, they are unlikely to be able to provide you with a figure that you will be able to sue for. However, it may be that you have already had the treatment and are attempting to claim compensation after having paid; in this case you will know yourself what kind of money you deserve. Alternatively it may be that you are claiming for compensation damages and have been notified by a medical expert that you will require rehabilitation treatment; you should be given an idea of the cost by the medical expert and may be able to claim it as part of a claim non-specific to rehabilitation costs.
