law on the phone

we know we are an internet-based business, but sometimes you just have to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. if that applies to you then check out our law on the phone page, where you can get links to telephone advice for motoring, wills & probate, employment, family & divorce, and even horse issues.....

injured in an accident

you don't need to sign up with one of the many "claims management" firms and talk to a form-filling claims handler. If you call our freephone number
0800 694 0190
you will be speaking direct to an expert law firm who know what they are talking about and they can give you sound advice there and then for nothing.....

Stuff and nonsense........

Readers (25 January 2008)
As we complete our 9th year in business on the net we are pleased to say that last year (2007) we helped more people than ever before.
648,512 unique individuals visited the site last year, which was 30% up on the year before when we fell just short of half a million readers. We'd like to thank everyone who uses the site, uses the solicitors that we work with, and tells others about us.

Complaints (24 July 2007)
As we deal with personal injury and medical negligence claims (see here) we are  regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of regulated claims management activities. Our registration is recorded on their website at www.claimsregulation.gov.uk. Should you wish to make a complaint about our claims management service then please click here for full details of our complaints procedure.

Lasting Power of Attorney(14 July 2007)
From October this year Enduring Power of Attornies (EPAs) will be a thing of the past. Find out about their replacements LPAs, and how they can also help if you want to give directions for medical treatment - LPA information

Need a divorce solicitor? (9 July 2007)
Check out our panel of specialist divorce and family law solicitors, who are experts in this particular field of law. It may be that you just need an answer to a question that you cannot resolve for yourself, or you just need to be reassured that you are doing the right thing. If so then you can speak with one of our panel on the telephone for a one-off fixed fee of £40. Its simple to sort out - see our divorce pages here.

Accident in your car (3 June 2007)
If you have been injured on the road in an accident in your car, then do not be persuaded to employ any old solicitor that your insurers put you in touch with. Use a specialist. For more information see our sisters site www.caniclaim.com.

More Email problems (21 May 2007)
Sorry to say that we are having more problems with our emails due to a "major hardware failure" at the weekend at our ISP. They are doing all they can to get things back up and running smoothly, but it may take some time. Apologies if your emails get bounced back to you or there is a delay in our responding to you. It is very frustrating sitting here and not getting any email.

Mobile phone law change (27 February 2007)
From today if you are caught using your handheld mobile phone while driving your car then you are liable to get 3 points and a £60 fine. It may not seem like much but with more speed cameras and traffic light cameras than ever, keeping points off your licence and your insurance premiums down, and even keeping hold of your licence itself is more difficult than ever. If you find yourself in trouble check out our Road Law pages with solicitors who can help out of you need them.

Accident at Work (15 December 2006)
If you have been injured in an accident at work visit our sister site at www.caniclaim.com/atwork.htm for information on how to claim for your injuries using our specialist solicitors. There are no catches and no fees, just good commonsense advice for free.

The Tax Bookshop (2 February 2006)
OK its not the sexiest subject in the world, and so its also probably not the sexiest bookshop in the world, but if you'd like to pay less tax (err...let me think....) then take a look at some of the sensible, practical and easy-to-read self-help tax books available in our new Tax Bookshop. You can buy the hard copy or download the e-book onto your laptop to read on the train, at work or on the beach!

Severing a Joint Tenancy (11 November 2005)
We have drafted a notice severing a joint tenancy; the letter to send it with and instructions on how to use them. They are available here.

Hedges (1 June 2005)
We get a lot of questions about hedges, fences, borders, right to light and general neighbour problems. As from today you can now ask your local authority to get involved if you want you neighbour to keep the size of their hedge (any evergreen hedge) below 2 metres, but you will have to pay them for the privilege. Will this resolve the problems of massive hedges? Probably only in the most extreme of cases, but we will wait and see.
