AD03 Change of Location of the Company Records to The Single Alternative Inspection Location (SAIL)

All public and private limited companies are required to make all of their records and official registers available to Companies House and other statutory bodies for inspection at a single location.

Normally this is the company’s registered office. However, smaller companies, which trade from the home of a director or major shareholder may wish to preserve their privacy by specifying the registered office as their accountants or solicitors premises, or the premises of a company formation agent.

The Companies Act 2006 require all companies which do not keep their records at the registered office to keep them at another location called the “Single Alternative Inspection Location” (SAIL) and Companies House must be notified of the address of the SAIL. The SAIL address is not published on the publicly available records held by Companies House.

This form can be used to notify Companies House that a company’s records have moved from its registered office to its Single Alternative inspection Location (please note, Companies House should already have been informed of the address of the SAIL using form AD02).

Form AD03 can be downloaded directly from the government website here.
