D36 Notice of Application for Decree Nisi to be Made Absolute or Conditional Order to be Made Final

This is the form which is required to apply for a decree absolute. After the decree nisi has been granted, a decree absolute can be acquired in order to officially terminate a marriage which has broken down irretrievably.

A period of at least 6 weeks must have elapsed since the day on which the decree nisi was pronounced before you are able to apply for a decree absolute.

You should not delay for too long, however, as you are expected to make your application within 12 months of the decree nisi. If you do not, you may have to explain yourself to the court.

Applying for a decree absolute, if you are the spouse who initiated the divorce proceedings, will cost £45.

This form can be downloaded directly from the government website here.
