D84 Application for a Decree Nisi/Conditional Order or (Judicial) Separation Decree/Order

This is the form which is used to apply for what is known in legal parlance as a decree nisi. If you are granted a decree nisi, then shortly thereafter you will be able to apply for a decree absolute, which will officially terminate your marriage.

The form has two sections – section A should be completed if your spouse does not defend your divorce petition, and section B is what you need to fill in if your husband or wife is defending the case.

This form can be downloaded directly from the government website here.

Along with this form, when applying for a decree nisi you will also need to fill out a statement confirming that what you said in the divorce petition is true. There are different versions of this form for each of the five facts of divorce.
