N235 Certificate of Suitability for a Litigation Friend
A Litigation Friend is someone who represents a child or person who lacks mental capacity (protected person) in legal proceedings. Wherever a child or protected person is involved in legal proceeds in any capacity, a litigation friend must be appointed to ensure that proceedings are conducted in their best interests and to make decisions on their behalf. A litigation friend should ideally be someone with a personal connection with the child or protected person, such as a close relative.
The court must approve the appointment of a litigation form, and approval should be sought using this certificate.
