Q: I have noticed stains on the carpet floor which have gradually made their way down the stairs. I have been told by the company that fitted the carpet that it is the way I walk up and down the stairs that is causing the stains. The seller then reported this back to the manufacturer and they agreed with this. I believe this to not be the case. What can I do about this situation?
A: It would be wise to have a specialist round to carry out a report to determine what the cause of the stain is and try to establish whether there is an inherent fault with the carpet. If the report is received and states that there is an inherent fault then you must go back to the seller, show them a copy of the report and request that a replacement carpet be provided. If the seller refuses your demand you may have to consider settling this issue in court if you wish to take matters further.
I purchased a car stereo at a price of £425, agreed at point of sale. After paying for the goods, I said I would collect it later. I shortly received a phone call from the seller stating that the price was wrong and insisting that I either have to pay more money - as the goods were now worth £525 - or cancel the order. I would like to know where I stand legally.
