Q: I took out a loan over the phone for £5000 and agreed payments with the company. I have paid money to the company but not received a loan. I stopped paying money to them and reported this incident to the police, who provided me with a crime reference number. I am looking to claim my money back; what do I do?
A: Firstly, you should check that you have a valid service address for the company and send a letter to them before taking any action, allowing them 14 days to respond with intentions of paying back the money. The state will issue proceedings in court if no money is received after this time.
I have bought a car from a family member and it is now suddenly leaking. I live in on a small island, so getting it to the mainland to be fixed will be difficult and expensive. I have no warranty or guarantee on the car and I have contacted the manufactures asking about the defect. They have said it most likely was caused by a design flaw in the car. Where do I stand from a legal perspective?
