Q: I have a drain which is shared with one neighbour. They wish to come onto my land and connect to my drains as they would like to use the drainage system for a new toilet. What should I do?
A: Check your insurance to see whether this will affect it and whether you would still be covered. Also, take expert advice on what effect it may have on the drains. Additionally, check if your other next door neighbour will need to give permission for this to go ahead. Make sure that you will not be responsible for any damage and costs incurred. Most importantly, bear in mind that you are under no obligation to allow them to do this.
