Q: I run a business and we have our own Facebook page. Threatening comments against me and those close to me have been posted on it. The motivation for the comments was found to be based on a lie, and I have had official confirmation of this from the local council. Can I take legal action?
A: This is a specialist area of law known as defamation. Taking it further would require a specialist solicitor. The threatening comments are unlawful and you could show these to the police to investigate further.
