Q: One of my clients is requesting me to remove an employee while he is on site. If I do this however, the employee’s hours will be drastically reduced. What can I do?
A: You should get something clear and unambiguous from the client (possibly in writing) about requesting the removal of the employee. I also recommend you have an informal meeting with your employee to discuss why he and the client are having issues.
I work for a small business and I am having performance issues and compliance problems with one of my employees. My employee is a care home manager whom I have recently been trying to train further. She has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. However, I was not informed of this - I learned it through other members of staff. I believe that this matter is affecting the standard of her work. She has not received any formal warnings from me, but I have had an informal meeting with her and advised that this may lead to disciplinary action. Since then, she has stated that she is now performing to the best of her ability. I would like to know whether disciplinary procedures are contractual.
