Q: Most of my clients live outside of the local area and the council have decided to cut down funding. It started off with percentage decreases. However they are now trying to cut client’s monies, and are looking to reduce monies paid by £450 per week (to the people who’s care needs are critical). It is making it very difficult for us to provide satisfactory levels of care if we are not receiving adequate funding. I do not want to compromise or prejudice the care of my clients. I would like to know whether I can challenge the council’s decision to reduce the funding.
A: This is potentially a contract dispute. It is difficult to advise whether you can challenge this without sight of agreement between you and the council – i.e. you would need to know what the agreement is in relation to funding. You could potentially bring forward the argument of breach of contract but if not you may have to challenge this via judicial review.
An employee has had two tattoos on both arms and has now dyed their hair an inappropriate colour. I have received some complaints about their appearance. What can I do?
read moreA disciplinary hearing was held in the employee’s absence this evening. At the request of the employee, two other employees attended as witnesses and they were questioned with regards to their statements. After the meeting I considered all the allegations and documentation, and I have reasonable belief that the allegations made against him are true. I believe it to be gross misconduct, and I have decided to dismiss him. I’ve drafted a letter to advise the employee of my decision...do I need to do anything else?
