Q: An employee of mine is constantly causing a few minor issues such as going on her break without mentioning it. What actions should I take against her?
A: If the issues are very minor then it is recommended that you have an informal meeting with your employee and briefly remind her of company policy. You have no legal case against her at this point, however.
My employee fails to phone my company when he is too ill to come to work. What should I do?

Employees are only entitled to statutory sick pay on days that the employee would ordinarily have worked after 4 days of being off sick. Previously, employees have been given full pay if they have been off sick yet this is at the managements’ discretion. I wish to reinforce this policy that it will be at the manager’s discretion to issue full pay in accordance with statutory sick pay. Is it okay to proceed with this?
