Q: I installed doors in a residential property and have been facing ongoing problems with the customer regarding water leaks. I install automatic doors for commercial use but the customer requested that it be installed in their home. The customer did not erect a canopy which I believed would provide protection as to the elements but now wants the door removed at my expense. I would like advice on my legal position here.
A: You would have to show that the fittings and the products are not defective in order to not be liable. If you wish to give a refund to the customer, do so as a goodwill gesture with non-admission of liability.
